Now I'm really getting conflicted on this. Do I spend [quite a bit of money] on a two week trans-atlantic crossing — in a "motorised sail yacht" — in November? I really need it right now, not five months from now.

Pros: I get away from it all for two weeks. I'm on the ocean. I'm not on a cruise that goes from port to port.

Cons: costs [more than half of my savings]. Average age of other passengers is in the mid-40s to mid-50s. Would miss Thanksgiving. Must entertain myself entirely (ie, no onboard entertainment).

I both really want to do this, and am very scared by doing it. It's not really an adventure — this is more of a luxury cruise — so perhaps I ought to spend my money on more adventuresome outings where there would be more of my age group. But I really don't want to be social with people. However, will I still feel that way in November?

Right now, the reason I'm looking into this kind of stuff is that my brain is too full — I can't focus on anything because I'm totally stuffed up; maybe even burned out is the term.

Still can't decide.

I may do it, just because I'm agonising over it so much, which is a family trait, and I don't want to get into the habit of over-thinking my decisions (that way lies Grandpa).

What's the weather like in the mid-northern Atlantic during November?
