The world sucks.

I think the one of the great lies we are told as kids is that there is such a thing as fairness. There isn't.

It's the other way around. After they get past the "everything is mine" stage, children for the most part have a natural sense of fairness. The thing you have to teach them is that life is not, in fact, fair.
